Senior Project Manager – EL2 (Canberra)

About the role

This senior project management position supports a Federal Government client in Canberra for a three‑year fixed‑term contract. The role leads a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver highly complex projects across finance, commercial, technical, risk, schedule and human resources domains.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and day‑to‑day management of a multi‑disciplined project team.
• Oversee all aspects of complex project activities, including finance, commercial, technical, risk, schedule, HR and industry relationships.
• Set clear performance and behavioural standards, delegate responsibilities and mentor less experienced staff.
• Offer strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders on whole‑of‑life considerations.
• Review and improve project management methodologies, integrating risk and opportunity management into planning and decision‑making.
• Build and sustain a network of key stakeholders, communicate with influence and negotiate effectively.
• Assess project performance against plans and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure accurate, on‑time delivery of work meeting quality requirements.

Required profile

• Current NV2 security clearance or higher.
• Proven experience leading large, multi‑disciplinary project teams in a government or public‑sector environment.
• Ability to provide strategic advice to senior executives and influence senior leadership.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate project performance and resolve issues.
• Commitment to a start date of 1 September 2026 and a 40‑hour work week.
