Job description

About the role

REA Group is hiring a Senior Product Manager (Data Mesh Enablement) within Launchpad, part of its Global Technology group. The role leads product discovery and strategic initiatives that help REA adopt data-as-a-product thinking and realise value from its federated data operating model. It is a permanent position based in either Melbourne or Sydney.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders, data domain owners and data product owners to define data products that are valuable, discoverable, trustworthy and reusable.
  • Manage a portfolio of data product use cases, assessing, prioritising and connecting them to strategic outcomes and delivery capacity.
  • Lead discovery and problem definition for initiatives covering federated data governance, data domain models, data-as-a-product practices, lifecycle management and value measurement.
  • Define and roll out consistent discovery approaches, workshops and methodologies, including reusable templates, playbooks and paved paths.
  • Build and maintain a long-term, outcome-driven roadmap for the Data Mesh Enablement squad aligned to REA's data strategy and OKRs.
  • Partner with Data Management, Data Business Partners and delivery teams to support adoption of new practices, and run engagement forums and feedback loops.

Required profile

  • At least five years' experience in Product Management or Product Development, owning complex products, platforms, portfolios or strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data-as-a-product thinking, including use cases, ownership, discoverability, quality, trust, lifecycle management and measurable value.
  • Experience working closely with data engineers, software engineers, data management, analytics or technology teams.
  • Proven ability to lead discovery, frame ambiguous problems, design workshops and synthesize diverse perspectives.
  • Ability to connect insights to strategy and drive it through prioritisation, delivery, adoption and benefit realisation.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling and influencing skills, and a track record of helping teams adopt new ways of working.

What we offer

  • A hybrid and flexible approach to working.
  • Flexible leave options, including birthday leave and the option to purchase additional leave.
  • Flexible parental leave for primary and secondary carers.
  • The Because We Care program: volunteering leave, community grants, matched payroll giving and a Community Café that donates 100% of its revenue to charity.
  • Hackdays.
