Senior Portfolio Manager - Travel

About the role

Zurich is looking for a Senior Portfolio Manager for its Australian and New Zealand Travel portfolio, sitting within the Travel Pricing & Portfolio team. You will act as the analytical owner of performance, bringing together portfolio, claims and financial data to find what drives profitability and growth, and turn those insights into better commercial decisions. You will partner with Pricing, Claims, Finance and Product and translate complex analysis into practical recommendations for senior leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse portfolio performance across Direct and Intermediated channels, partners, products and customer segments.
• Apply portfolio valuation and profitability techniques to support new business, renewals and strategic decisions.
• Drive the Underwriting function's loss ratio and volume assumptions across planning, budgeting and forecasting.
• Build, automate and maintain self-service dashboards showing performance and portfolio trends.
• Turn quantitative analysis into recommendations on portfolio mix, retention, claims experience and channel performance.
• Mentor and develop junior team members through technical guidance, feedback and professional development support.

Required profile

• Qualified Actuary status, FIAA or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of general insurance experience.
• Experience in portfolio management across direct and intermediated channels.
• Strong understanding of insurance P&L performance and its key drivers.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills, with strong communication with senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Excel, SQL, SAS and Power BI.
• Python experience viewed favourably.
• Building robust processes and intuitive dashboards.
