Senior Negotiation Advisor - Tax Debt

About the role

Tax Assure is a specialist taxation debt advisory business that helps companies, directors and business owners manage outstanding tax debt with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). It is looking for a Senior Negotiation Advisor for a full-time, hybrid role based in Sydney, NSW, with the option to work from home part of the week. The advisor leads negotiations with the ATO on behalf of clients, including strategies to manage, restructure or reduce tax debt.

Key responsibilities

• Review client financial information and assess risk and viability
• Prepare negotiation plans and proposals and communicate directly with clients and ATO representatives
• Provide clear, pragmatic advice and document recommendations, ensuring compliance with taxation and regulatory requirements
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal process improvements
• Support business development where specialist negotiation expertise is needed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, law, business or a related field
• Registration as a tax agent or equivalent professional accreditation is an advantage
• Demonstrated client advisory experience and ability to build trusted relationships
• Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, collaborating in office in Sydney and independently from home

Required skills

• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, including interpreting financial statements and assessing debt structures
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain complex tax and debt concepts clearly
• Sound knowledge of taxation principles, debt management and Australian regulatory frameworks (ATO experience highly regarded)
• Professional integrity, discretion and attention to detail with sensitive client information
