Senior Medical Officer / Rural Generalist - Obstetrics (Thursday Island)

About the role

Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service is inviting applications from experienced Obstetrics Senior Medical Officers (L13-L18) and Rural Generalists (L18-L27) for current and anticipated vacancies over the next six months. The position is based on Thursday Island, Queensland, and involves delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within the Torres Strait region.

Key responsibilities

• Work with a supportive multidisciplinary team and manage a diverse clinical caseload
• Provide evidence-based care across a range of settings
• Build meaningful relationships with patients, families and communities
• Improve health outcomes through continuity of care, chronic disease management and community-focused health initiatives
• Mentor junior doctors and medical students
• Contribute to quality improvement activities and projects supporting health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Required profile

• Experienced Obstetrics Senior Medical Officer (L13-L18) or Rural Generalist (L18-L27)
• Ability to deliver patient-centred care in a remote setting
