About the role
The Department of Health is seeking a Senior Media and Communications Officer to lead the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the department’s public image and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement across the Northern Territory.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and evaluate media and communication strategies aligned with departmental objectives.
- Manage proactive and reactive media relations, including press releases, briefings and crisis communications.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and promote departmental initiatives.
- Forecast communication trends and provide strategic recommendations.
- Prepare regular reports on media coverage, public perception and communication performance.
Required profile
- Administrative Officer Level 7 or equivalent senior experience in media and communications.
- Proven ability to lead communication projects in a government or public sector environment.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.

What we offer
- Remuneration package ranging from AUD 138,289 to AUD 148,633 per annum (including base salary AUD 117,356 to AUD 126,251).
