Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

The client, a leading HVAC and building services contractor in NSW, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Sydney team. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will lead the design, coordination and technical delivery of complex HVAC projects from concept through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems in line with NCC requirements and Australian Standards.
• Produce, review and coordinate design documentation, drawings and technical submissions.
• Provide technical guidance to drafting teams and conduct design reviews and checks.
• Assess subcontractor and supplier submissions for compliance.
• Support project delivery during installation, testing and commissioning phases.
• Manage project documentation including drawings, specifications and reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HVAC Design Engineer, Senior HVAC Design Engineer, Mechanical Designer or Senior Mechanical Engineer.
• Background on projects in healthcare, data centres or infrastructure valued at $10 million plus.
• Design & Construct experience is essential.

Required skills

• HVAC system design.
• Knowledge of NCC (National Construction Code) requirements.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards for mechanical services.
