Senior Maritime Engineer

About the role

Haskoning Australia is seeking a Senior Maritime Engineer to lead the design and delivery of water‑based infrastructure such as ports, harbours, and coastal works. The role combines technical design expertise with project management to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs for ports, harbour works, quay walls, wharves, jetties, dolphins, piles, sheet piles, seawalls and waterfront developments.
• Produce design calculations, review and check the work of other engineers, and prepare technical documents including Basis of Design, design reports, technical notes and feasibility studies.
• Manage engineering designs using steel, concrete, timber, aluminium and other media, and conduct structural inspections with accompanying reports.
• Prepare work execution plans, allocate resources and schedule activities to meet project timelines.
• Lead multiple small‑to‑medium projects, ensuring compliance with company systems, budget, and schedule.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and other team members.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maritime, port or coastal engineering with a strong focus on water‑based structures.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept through delivery, maintaining stakeholder relationships.
• Collaborative mindset, innovative problem‑solving skills and a commitment to sharing knowledge.
