Senior Manager – Retail Deposits, Digital & Physical Channels

About the role

The Senior Manager – Retail Deposits, Digital & Physical Channels will act as the recognised compliance subject‑matter expert for ANZ’s retail banking products. Reporting to the Compliance division, the role provides independent second‑line oversight and strategic advice across everyday banking, deposits and payments.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and influence compliance risk frameworks for complex retail products.
• Interpret and translate regulatory obligations (ASIC, APRA, Privacy, CDR, AML/CTF) into practical business actions.
• Challenge first‑line controls, decisions and risk assessments with a robust, risk‑based approach.
• Identify emerging regulatory risks, systemic issues and thematic trends, driving remediation priorities.
• Represent Compliance in senior governance forums and support regulatory engagements, including audits and reviews.
• Prepare and deliver insight‑driven reporting to senior risk committees and board sub‑committees.

Required profile

• 10‑15+ years of experience in compliance, risk or regulatory roles within retail banking.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives (GM/Exec level) and build credible relationships.
• Strong judgement, analytical skills and the capacity to work in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience with Australian regulatory frameworks such as APRA CPS 230/220 and ASIC reforms.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of retail banking products and associated compliance requirements.
• Expertise in interpreting ASIC, APRA, Privacy, CDR and AML/CTF regulations.
• Ability to produce high‑quality regulatory reporting and documentation.
