Senior L3 Network Engineer

About the role

Logicalis is recruiting a Senior L3 Network Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract, based in Sydney or Melbourne. The role sits within a high-performing Infrastructure Support Services team of a global operator of large-scale digital infrastructure that powers cloud services, AI workloads and demanding technology environments. It is a hands-on Level 3 engineering position focused on keeping enterprise-scale data centre networks reliable, secure and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Level 3 escalation point for critical network incidents and technical issues.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis and permanent remediation.
• Support highly available data centre and enterprise network environments.
• Take part in a 24x7 on-call roster for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents.
• Manage the network lifecycle, including patching, upgrades and technology refreshes.
• Drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring and service improvement.
• Work with vendors, internal support teams and project stakeholders.
• Maintain network security, resilience and performance.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks and operational procedures.

Required profile

• 10+ years of network engineering experience.
• Proven experience acting as an L3 escalation point.
• Experience supporting enterprise, managed services, critical infrastructure or data centre environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing P1/P2 incidents and root cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of ITIL service management practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience mentoring L1/L2 support teams.
• Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet or Juniper certification.
• Australian citizenship (mandatory) or eligibility to obtain government security clearance; current NV1 security clearance is a nice-to-have.

Required skills

• Routing and switching, Cisco switching and routing, enterprise LAN/WAN, network segmentation, DNS and DHCP.
• High availability network design, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, network access controls.
• FortiGate and Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, UniFi and Juniper wireless solutions, enterprise Wi-Fi deployments.
• Monitoring, alerting, incident management and operational support in 24x7 environments.
• Automation and scripting experience.
