Senior Intake & Brief Intervention Clinician

About the role

As the Senior Intake & Brief Intervention Clinician at headspace Pakenham, you will be the primary on‑site senior, providing leadership, welcoming intake support and evidence‑based brief interventions for young people and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Open and close the centre, lead daily operations and support staff, visitors and co‑located services.
• Provide intake and service access support to young people, families and community stakeholders.
• Deliver brief, evidence‑based interventions using single‑session and short‑term therapeutic approaches.
• Assess needs across mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drugs, and work/study domains.
• Coordinate referrals and connect young people with appropriate services.
• Mentor students and emerging clinicians, maintain high‑quality clinical records and contribute to senior leadership activities.

Required profile

• Compassionate clinician with a Bachelor qualification in Youth Work, Occupational Therapy, Social Sciences, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or related field.
• Experience delivering mental health support to young people, including assessment, risk management and brief intervention.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse young people, families, carers and community stakeholders.
• Understanding of adolescent development and youth mental health service systems.
• Current driver’s licence.
