Senior Health & Safety Advisor

About the role

Gallagher Bassett, a leader in claims management and risk solutions, is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve its health, safety and wellbeing approach across Australia. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the National Health & Safety Manager provides operational leadership across all aspects of Work Health and Safety (WHS), working with leaders and employees to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and foster a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the WHS framework, programs and initiatives
• Advise on WHS legislation, compliance obligations and best practice
• Assist with the return-to-work process for employees
• Review and maintain WHS policies, procedures and documentation
• Conduct risk assessments, audits and inspections to identify hazards
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Deliver WHS training and awareness programs and contribute to building eLearns
• Monitor safety performance, analyse trends and report to stakeholders
• Support managers and employees in managing workplace risks
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders on continuous improvement
• Develop and implement the Psychological Safety Framework

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager, WHS Manager or similar in a large or complex organisation
• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline
• Experience executing WHS strategies and programs
• Right to live and work in Australia at the time of application; agency submissions are not accepted
