Senior Security Analyst (MDR, Australia)
artemis
Job description
About the role
Artemis is building an AI-driven cybersecurity platform that uses AI agents to detect, investigate, hunt and respond to threats. It offers Apollo, a managed detection and response service, and is looking for a Senior Security Analyst to join as one of its founding analysts. You will lead investigations across cloud, identity, endpoint and SaaS, own the decision on each case and carry incidents from first signal to resolution, while shaping the service's standards, workflows and reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Take cases from pickup to close: establish what happened, determine impact and blast radius, set verdict and severity, and record your reasoning.
- Reconstruct attacker activity across identity, cloud, endpoint and SaaS telemetry, combining AI-assisted investigation with hands-on log analysis.
- Recommend and execute containment within each customer's authorised limits, with impact previewed and reversible, and guide customers through the right actions.
- Work by risk, reaching a verdict within the response targets for each severity and keeping the most consequential work moving first.
- Summarise findings and reasoning clearly for customers, acting as their trusted security partner.
- Run hypothesis-driven, AI-assisted threat hunts and turn findings into new cases and detections.
- Help design the service: investigative standards, response workflows, reporting and the console, and feed patterns back into detection engineering and product.
Required profile
- 4+ years of hands-on security operations experience in a SOC, MSSP or MDR environment at a senior or Tier 3 level, where the investigation ends with your decision.
- Investigation depth across identity (Okta, Entra ID), cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), endpoint (EDR) and SaaS (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace).
- Fluency in MITRE ATT&CK and in distinguishing suspicious from confirmed evidence.
- Experience with AI-assisted investigation or automation, and strong customer-facing instincts.
- Excellent written communication, a high bar for analysis quality, and comfort working a defined shift as coverage expands to 24x7.
- Bonus: multi-tenant MDR or MSSP experience, detection rule writing or tuning, incident command experience, threat hunting or DFIR background, and daily use of AI or agentic coding tools.
