Casual Freight Screening Officer (Brisbane)

About the role

ACESGroup is seeking casual cargo screeners for aviation facilities in Brisbane, with the possibility of a full-time role in the future. As a Freight Screening Officer you will help ensure the safety and security of cargo moving through the facilities, screening freight and carrying out security-related tasks including gatehouse duties. The role suits someone with strong attention to detail and observational skills who can work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform security screenings of freight consignments using screening equipment
• Follow established protocols and procedures to comply with transportation security regulations and guidelines
• Identify and respond to potential threats, prohibited weapons and suspicious behaviour
• Document and report security incidents and suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities

Required profile

• Certificate II Transport Security Protection (Air Cargo Examination Officer), or ability to obtain it
• QLD Security Licence
• Australian or relevant port, aviation security identification card, or ability to obtain it
• Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate, or ability to obtain it
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Communication skills to interact with passengers and give clear instructions
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills for security incidents and emergencies
• Computer skills to operate screening equipment and report incidents
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
