Senior Financial Accountant

About the role

A small, growing ASX-listed Australian food producer is building a finance team under a new CFO, and is hiring a Senior Financial Accountant for a permanent, full-time position in the Melbourne CBD. The role reports to the CFO and Company Secretary and owns financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax and treasury. It is hands-on, within a small, newly formed finance team, and involves preparing reports yourself.

The business is moving from an older version of MYOB to MYOB Acumatica, so you will help clean up processes, strengthen controls and build solid reporting foundations. Working hours are currently 2 days in the office and 3 from home, moving to 4 days in the office and 1 from home over time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, half-year and full-year financial reports, including all ASX reporting
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage ASX and ASIC compliance, continuous disclosure, GST, FBT, PAYG and income tax compliance and lodgements
• Complete regulatory forms and ABS surveys
• Manage treasury, cash flow forecasting, banking facilities and covenant reporting
• Manage leased and owned asset accounting, fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Coordinate external audit activities and support Board, executive and company secretarial requirements
• Support inventory, reporting and fixed asset accounting, and assist with capital expenditure analysis and business cases
• Help implement MYOB Acumatica and improve finance processes and controls

Required profile

• Finance Manager level without direct reports, or a Senior Financial Accountant
• CA or CPA qualification
• ASX-listed reporting experience is essential
• Big 4 background highly regarded; retail, manufacturing or FMCG experience is a bonus
• Available immediately

Required skills

• Strong statutory reporting, technical accounting, tax and treasury knowledge
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems

What we offer

• Salary of $130,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience
• Permanent, full-time position with hybrid working
