Senior Engineer, Automation/Mechatronics Engineering – Research & Technology

About the role

Join ResMed's Moulding Research & Technology Engineering team to lead the exploration, development, and maturation of emerging automation and mechatronics technologies for future manufacturing applications. You will translate manufacturing challenges and product needs into prototypes and demonstrators, working across mechanical systems, robotics, controls, sensing, machine vision, and software.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate emerging automation, robotics, sensing, and mechatronics technologies and design proof‑of‑concept experiments.
• Design and build integrated mechatronic systems, including fixtures, material‑handling concepts, motion systems, and control solutions.
• Progress promising technologies from laboratory concepts to production‑relevant demonstrations and support transfer to NPI teams.
• Collaborate with product development, tooling, manufacturing, quality, and external partners to ensure scalability, safety, and business value.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Robotics Engineering or related field.
• Significant hands‑on experience developing automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing systems.
• Proven ability to translate loosely defined problems into clear engineering requirements and experiments.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts, risks, and recommendations to diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Automation and robotics development, PLC, motion‑control, and industrial automation systems.
• Mechanical design using SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX or equivalent.
• Experience with Fanuc or other industrial/collaborative robotics platforms.
• Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC and HMI systems.
• Machine vision, industrial cameras, sensors, and advanced inspection technologies.
