Senior Director Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Senior Director of Facilities Maintenance will lead the maintenance strategy for the Canberra Health Services property portfolio, including the North Canberra Hospital and other acute and non‑acute facilities. Reporting to the Branch Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities Services, this senior position oversees both planned and reactive maintenance programmes, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations across all health sites.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic maintenance plans for a large network of health facilities.
• Lead internal FM trade staff and external contractors, ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
• Manage the facilities budget, monitor financial performance and control costs.
• Oversee asset management, utilities, and contract administration for the portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, Health Facility Guidelines, legislation and CHS policies.
• Represent CHS in senior‑level negotiations and stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in facilities management within a large, complex environment, preferably healthcare.
• Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of relevant compliance standards, Australian legislation and health‑facility guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and negotiate contracts at senior level.
