Senior Design Engineer – Train Control Systems

About the role

The Senior Design Engineer – Train Control Systems (TCS) will lead the design and review of TCS solutions, ensuring they meet project specifications and are aligned with engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all record‑keeping requirements.
• Coordinate equipment selection and generate contract Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Prepare designs that are simple, economical, and meet project specifications.
• Produce and revise inspection, test, and quality documentation.
• Register and maintain all project documentation in appropriate databases.
• Review programme timeframes with Planning Engineer, Design Manager and Project Manager.
• Liaise with Verification Engineer to resolve design queries.
• Collaborate with Construction and Design Managers to confirm design adequacy for manufacture and construction.
• Attend design reviews as requested by the Project Engineer or Design Manager.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, eligible for acceptance by Engineers Australia.
• 5‑10 years experience in Train Control System design, including on‑site testing and commissioning.
• Demonstrated experience delivering TCS projects successfully.

Required skills

• Electrical Engineering principles applied to rail systems.
• Design and review of Train Control Systems.
• Testing and commissioning of TCS equipment.
