Senior Construction Inspector – WorkSafe Queensland

About the role

WorkSafe Queensland is seeking a Senior Inspector (Construction) to join its multidisciplinary team. This position offers a structured onboarding programme, ongoing training and mentorship, and the chance to make a tangible impact on health and safety across Queensland workplaces.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect construction sites and high‑risk industrial environments to identify hazards and prevent serious injuries or fatalities.
• Hold non‑compliant businesses accountable and enforce safety legislation.
• Provide education to employers and workers on their legal obligations.
• Contribute to safety‑culture improvement initiatives within Queensland’s most hazardous sectors.
• Support the implementation of recommendations from the Best Practice Review of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.

Required profile

• Strong written communication, time‑management and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Practical experience applying safety protocols in operational or regulatory settings.
• Resilience and professionalism to manage difficult conversations and challenging situations.
• Confidence engaging with people at all levels, educating, influencing and enforcing compliance when required.
• Genuine commitment to improving safety for Queensland workers.
