Senior Communications Consultant

About the role

Elexia Communications is seeking a Senior Communications Consultant to join its Sydney team. This full‑time, on‑site position will lead the development and execution of strategic communications plans for energy‑sector clients, helping them articulate growth stories and navigate the transition to a cleaner future.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communications plans for renewables, transmission and clean‑tech organisations.
• Draft, edit and distribute press releases, media pitches and executive communications.
• Manage stakeholder engagement for major projects and advise clients on reputation and crisis management.
• Coordinate project timelines, collaborate with cross‑functional client teams and report on campaign impact.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to new‑business proposals.
• Strengthen relationships with key media and industry stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong corporate communications skills with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
• Proven experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and reputation management.
• Demonstrated project‑management ability to handle multiple client projects and deliverables.
• Extensive background in public relations, media management and crisis communications, preferably within the energy sector.
• Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills with a focus on measurable outcomes.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with media, clients and internal teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field; advanced qualifications are a plus.
• Prior consultancy or agency experience and familiarity with the Australian media and energy landscape.
