Senior Clinical Pharmacist – Voluntary Assisted Dying Service

About the role

The Senior Clinical Pharmacist will join Queensland’s Specialist VAD Pharmacy Service, delivering safe, compassionate pharmacy care to patients accessing voluntary assisted dying (VAD). Working within a highly collaborative interprofessional team, you will provide expert clinical support, medication reviews, dispensing, and patient education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior pharmacy services and clinical support to health practitioners and patients accessing VAD, including assessment, intervention, and medication management in line with the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2021 (Qld).
• Contribute to the development of clinical practices, policies, protocols, quality‑improvement initiatives and research to enhance VAD pharmacy services.
• Educate, supervise and support less experienced pharmacists, students and support staff while collaborating with the statewide QVAD clinical team.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA) and demonstrated high‑level knowledge of clinical pharmacy services for VAD, palliative or end‑of‑life care.
• Proven ability to manage complex clinical workloads, prioritize competing demands and support patient discharge planning in a complex environment.
• Leadership experience including supervision of junior staff and initiation of service‑improvement projects.
