Senior Claims Consultant - Income Protection

TAL, a life insurer backed by Daiichi Life, is hiring a Senior Claims Consultant for its Retail Income Protection Claims team in Sydney. The team manages a portfolio of complex, high-value Income Protection claims, with a focus on technical excellence, stakeholder engagement and outcome-driven portfolio management. Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Retail Income Protection claims, 3-5 years, covering policy interpretation, trustee relationships, member expectations and underwritten and default cover structures.
• Proven experience managing Income Protection claims end-to-end, from assessment to resolution, interpreting medical, financial and legal information to make fair, well-reasoned decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to prepare professional claim correspondence and explain complex outcomes to customers and stakeholders.
• Ability to build relationships with customers, trustees, medical practitioners, rehabilitation providers, legal representatives, reinsurers and internal business partners.
• Customer-focused approach, supporting vulnerable customers and handling sensitive or challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism.
• Collaborative mindset, working across claims, underwriting, compliance, rehabilitation, finance, technology and specialist support teams.
