Senior Civil Engineer – Utilities

About the role

Lead the planning, coordination and management of utilities across major infrastructure projects, ensuring technical quality, design management, budget and programme delivery from concept to construction support.

Key responsibilities

• Manage utility investigations, impact assessments and authority approval processes, ensuring compliance with asset owner requirements and project objectives.
• Act as the key interface between project teams, utility authorities, surveyors, specialist designers and contractors to coordinate outcomes and resolve complex constraints.
• Provide strategic advice on utility risks, programme impacts, approval pathways, construction staging and mitigation strategies.
• Drive multidisciplinary design coordination and digital engineering to achieve clash‑free, constructible, cost‑effective solutions.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, contribute to business development, proposal preparation and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 10+ years post‑graduate experience in civil and site infrastructure design with demonstrated design management across multidisciplinary projects.
• Proficiency in civil design software such as 12D and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of utility authority standards and ability to interpret local authority and client‑specific requirements.
• Sound understanding of Australian civil engineering and infrastructure standards; Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) designation preferred.
• Commercial acumen with ability to deliver results within tight timeframes and budgets.
