Senior Civil Designer

About the role

Progresciv is looking for a Senior Civil Designer to lead the design and documentation of roads, highways and active transport projects using Bentley OpenRoads and MicroStation. The role combines technical leadership, mentorship of junior staff and the development of efficient digital workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed civil design and drafting for transport infrastructure projects using OpenRoads and MicroStation.
• Develop and maintain design documentation, drawings, models and specifications to Australian standards.
• Manage company workspaces and project worksets, including templates, seed files and annotation groups.
• Establish and improve digital design and documentation workflows across projects.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI, Python, Visual Basic or similar scripting tools.
• Collaborate with engineers, clients and stakeholders to deliver practical, constructable solutions.
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
• Mentor junior designers and promote knowledge sharing within the team.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience as a civil designer on road, highway and active transport projects, preferably with MRWA or other Australian road authorities.
• At least three years’ experience using OpenRoads.
• Strong understanding of Australian design standards and road geometry principles.
• Proven ability to produce detailed, construction‑ready designs and drawings.
• Experience developing or maintaining OpenRoads workspaces and worksets.
• Interest or experience in workflow automation with AI, Python, Visual Basic, VBA or similar.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder‑management and multitasking skills.
