Senior Civil Designer – 12d Model Specialist

About the role

KCB is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Designer to join its Brisbane team, focusing on 12d Model‑based design for mining infrastructure, particularly Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs). The role involves delivering high‑quality, construction‑ready designs while mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of conceptual, preliminary and detailed civil designs using 12d Model.
• Create and optimise complex 3D models for TSFs and associated mining infrastructure.
• Design and document tailings embankments, drainage systems, spillways, containment structures and large‑scale earthworks.
• Produce construction‑ready drawings, digital deliverables, earthworks quantities and design documentation directly from 12d Model.
• Collaborate with civil, geotechnical, water resources, environmental and geological specialists to deliver integrated project outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers, especially in digital design workflows.

Required profile

• 7+ years of civil design and drafting experience, preferably in the mining or resources sector.
• Advanced proficiency in 12d Model with proven experience on TSF projects.
• Strong knowledge of mine waste management infrastructure, dam safety principles and relevant industry standards.
• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
