Senior CAD Drafter – Energy Projects

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior CAD Drafter to lead drafting activities within its Energy practice. Based in Sydney (or Brisbane), you will work on a variety of primary, secondary, transmission, civil and structural energy projects, delivering high‑quality design drawings.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to produce substation layouts, single‑line diagrams, secondary schematics and related drawings.
• Support and manage design milestones, ensuring deliverables meet scope, standards, budget and schedule.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and training on digital design tools across the Energy team.
• Utilise common data environments such as ProjectWise, Autodesk Forma and CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) to maintain design integrity.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering energy‑related CAD designs, preferably on high‑voltage projects for Australian clients (e.g., Transgrid, Ausgrid, Powerlink, Energex).
• 5+ years of CAD drafting experience with strong knowledge of industry standards and quality requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines and geographically dispersed teams.
• Leadership or team‑lead experience in a CAD environment is an advantage.
