Senior Business Analyst - Data Governance

About the role

The University of Queensland is looking for a Senior Business Analyst within its Data Strategy and Governance team, based at the St Lucia campus. You will help shape the university's data governance capability, working with the Solution Architect and diverse stakeholders to build conceptual data models and key data governance artefacts, and to advise on business requirements and risks.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders across the university to elicit, analyse and define risks and business requirements, giving complex data governance advice
• Prepare documentation such as business cases, risk reviews, conceptual data models and issue papers
• Develop and maintain enterprise data artefacts such as the information entity catalogue and business glossary
• Facilitate workshops and work with the Solution Architect to develop conceptual data models and identify data-related issues
• Support the implementation of the university's data architecture framework
• Manage changes to conceptual data models and glossary definitions to drive data initiatives
• Supervise the Data Governance Officer in line with university policies and procedures

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience
• Significant experience in business analysis, including requirements elicitation, risk management, analysis and documentation
• Proven experience in data governance, information management, enterprise architecture or data services
• Ability to model business processes and conceptual data models
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Unrestricted work rights in Australia; pre-employment checks may include right to work, qualifications and criminal history checks

Required skills

• Business process and conceptual data modelling
• Desirable: ArchiMate modelling and tools such as Avolution, Lean IX, Visio or Erwin
• Desirable: experience in a regulated environment, higher education or large IT departments

• Base salary of $120,317 to $134,892 plus 17% superannuation (HEW Level 8)
