Senior Audit Manager - Internal Audit

About the role

An Australian university or institution is recruiting a Senior Audit Manager for a permanent position in its Audit and Risk Assessment function, based in the Western Suburbs of Sydney. The role reports to the Chief Audit and Risk Officer and delivers high-quality risk-based internal audits and investigations for the group and its controlled entities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct internal audits and investigations from planning through to completion, including follow-up on post-completion issues.
• Manage the team members on reviews and supervise, motivate and develop the team of junior audit staff.
• Review the work of junior staff, develop their skills and provide training and support.

Required profile

• Degree plus postgraduate qualification such as CA, CPA, CIA or similar.
• Extensive experience in a business, financial, information systems and project management discipline.
• 15+ years leading internal audit or risk reviews in large, complex commercial organisations, with at least 7-8 years at manager or senior manager level in a reputed organisation.
• Understanding of risk management, accounting and internal auditing standards.
• Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and advisory skills on compliance with policy or statutory requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervision, coaching and mentoring experience.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel or other audit analytical tools.
• General use of audit software.
