Senior Audit Lead - Financial Crime

About the role

The Senior Audit Lead – Financial Crime will provide independent, third‑line assurance over the effectiveness of governance, risk management and controls that prevent, detect and respond to financial crime. Reporting to the Audit Director – Financial Crime, the role sits within ANZ’s Internal Audit function and contributes to the bank’s 2030 ambition of being a trusted, safe and risk‑aware institution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to complex Financial Crime audit engagements aligned with the approved Internal Audit plan.
• Execute deep‑dive and thematic audits of group‑wide frameworks, controls and governance related to financial crime prevention, detection and response.
• Apply financial crime and fraud judgement in audit scoping, testing and conclusions.
• Contribute to annual and ongoing audit planning, highlighting emerging issues, regulatory developments and thematic risks.
• Manage audit delivery to agreed timelines and budgets, escalating risks and ensuring robust issue follow‑up and validation.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in audit, preferably within financial services.
• Strong understanding of financial crime risk management, fraud controls and regulatory obligations.
• Proven ability to work with audit teams and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Experience in applying audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards.
