Senior Associate, Corporate Tax

About the role

Grant Thornton Australia is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Corporate Tax team in Sydney, focusing on blue‑chip financial services clients. You will work in a supportive, hybrid environment, delivering tax advisory and compliance services across a range of complex matters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review company and trust tax returns for large financial services clients.
• Research and provide tax consulting advice on topics such as tax consolidation, treaties, hybrid mismatches, CFC rules, withholding taxes, thin capitalisation, permanent establishments and AMITs.
• Assist clients with M&A activities, including tax structuring and due‑diligence.
• Support international tax issues, ATO reviews, governance matters and audits.
• Work with the ATO to obtain rulings and prepare technical tax reports.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and proposals.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, Law or related field.
• Corporate tax professional services experience, preferably with financial services clients.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to understand client businesses.
• Experience coaching or assisting less‑experienced team members.
• Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to excellent client service.

Required skills

• Understanding of Australian entity taxation and basic tax effect accounting.
• Knowledge of international tax concepts such as tax treaties and permanent establishments.
• Ability to research and analyse technical tax issues.
