Senior Manager, Corporate Tax

About the role

Grant Thornton Australia is seeking a Senior Manager with deep Financial Services industry knowledge to join its Corporate Tax team in Sydney. You will work within a supportive, highly knowledgeable team delivering tax advisory and compliance services to blue‑chip financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review company and trust tax returns for large financial services clients.
• Research and provide tax consulting advice on topics such as tax consolidation, treaties, hybrid mismatches, CFCs, withholding taxes, thin capitalisation, permanent establishments and AMITs.
• Assist clients with M&A activities, including tax structuring and due‑diligence services.
• Handle international tax issues, ATO reviews, governance matters and audits, and obtain rulings from the ATO.
• Support business development initiatives and proposal preparation.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, Law or related field.
• Significant corporate tax professional services experience with financial services clients.
• Strong analytical skills, inquisitive mindset and ability to understand client businesses.
• Experience coaching less‑experienced team members and a strong work ethic.

Required skills

• Corporate tax compliance and advisory.

• Interaction with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for rulings and audits.
