Senior Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

Warrikal is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Officer to lead its small AP team within a dynamic, majority Aboriginal‑owned resources business. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own the end‑to‑end AP function while driving continuous improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Process invoices accurately, matching them to purchase orders and receipts.
• Prepare and execute payment runs in line with company terms and maintain correct account coding.
• Maintain vendor records, resolve discrepancies and nurture supplier relationships.
• Support month‑end activities, including reconciliations, accruals and employee expense processing.
• Supervise, mentor and develop a small AP team to achieve high performance.
• Prepare analytical reports, identify process improvement opportunities and assist with finance system upgrades.
• Respond to internal stakeholder enquiries while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Required profile

• 4‑5 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
• Previous experience leading or supervising an AP team.
• Background in mining, construction, maintenance, contracting or project‑based environments is highly regarded.
• Strong organisational ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast‑paced setting.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Pronto ERP (highly desirable).
• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
