Senior Accountant

About the role

LINK Advisors is the accounting and advisory arm of LINK.com.au, a group of nine businesses in Fortitude Valley covering accounting, bookkeeping, financial advice, lending, property, marketing and recruitment. This is a public-practice senior role: you run a portfolio of small and medium business clients end to end, from the compliance cycle through year-end conversations to advisory work. You are the person the client calls. Each senior has offshore CPA-qualified support on Xero, Karbon and Fathom, so your day is review, client contact and judgement.

Key responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of SMB clients as their primary point of contact
• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and BAS for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and SMSFs
• Deliver monthly and quarterly management accounts and explain what they mean to clients
• Provide strategic guidance beyond compliance, including budgeting, forecasting and cashflow
• Review the work of intermediate and junior accountants and give constructive feedback
• Lead year-end and planning conversations, including tax planning and structuring
• Act as technical backstop for the bookkeeping team when a job outgrows bookkeeping
• Identify where a client needs another part of the group (lending, wealth, bookkeeping) and make introductions
• Work with the offshore team daily, setting the brief and reviewing what comes back

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified, or an equivalent international qualification such as ACCA, FCCA or ICAEW
• At least eight years in public practice, including recent Australian experience
• Comfortable across companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders
• Confident holding a client relationship without a manager in the room
