Senior Access Clinician

About the role

The Senior Access Clinician is the first clinical touchpoint for young people entering headspace Eastern Shore. You will assess needs, manage risk, and connect clients and families with appropriate supports.

Key responsibilities

• Lead intake, triage and assessment activities for young people accessing the service.
• Conduct mental health, risk and safety assessments and provide early‑intervention support.
• Develop safety plans and deliver short‑term interventions such as single‑session therapy and psycho‑education.
• Coordinate referrals and treatment pathways to ensure timely access to appropriate services.
• Manage a caseload requiring senior clinical expertise, including complex and co‑occurring concerns.
• Partner with families, carers and support networks to deliver family‑inclusive care.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions, service improvement initiatives and stakeholder relationship building.

Required profile

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Social Work and AHPRA registration or eligibility for AASW membership.
• Experience supporting young people with mental health concerns, including complex or co‑occurring presentations.
• Proven ability to conduct intake, psychosocial and risk assessments and develop safety plans.
• Strong understanding of child and youth mental health and early‑intervention frameworks.
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to balance competing priorities and navigate complex service systems.
• Current driver’s licence.
