Security Engineer II – Vulnerability Management & Remediation

About the role

Join Amazon's Vulnerability Management & Remediation Operations (VMRO) team in Sydney to help protect Amazon's infrastructure, services, and applications. You will analyze vulnerability disclosures, assess impact, and work with builder teams to remediate security issues.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze public and private vulnerability disclosures and exploit code, assessing technical details and potential impact.
• Investigate, triage, and prioritize vulnerabilities, determining severity and scope.
• Support response and remediation efforts, guiding builder teams to fix issues promptly.
• Engineer scalable, accurate vulnerability detection mechanisms and automation tools.
• Participate in on‑call rotations to ensure continuous monitoring and remediation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in application security, incident response, cloud security, or related fields.
• Experience identifying security issues, developing mitigation plans, and working with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java.Net, or C++.
• Experience with AWS products and services.
