Engineering Manager

About the role

Propeller is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of full‑stack engineers building high‑quality, customer‑focused products for its global mapping platform. You will be responsible for the growth, performance, wellbeing, and delivery outcomes of your engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers, owning team health, performance, and development.
• Partner with tech leads and staff engineers to ensure delivery against the roadmap.
• Support team members' growth through regular feedback, coaching, and tailored development opportunities.
• Manage performance, recognizing high performers and addressing underperformance with care.
• Drive a strong team culture of feedback, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Identify and remove blockers—process, organisational, or interpersonal—to keep the team moving forward.
• Collaborate with Talent to hire great engineers and support onboarding.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for people leadership, coaching, and mentorship.
• Experience managing engineering teams, including 1:1s, performance management, growth, and hiring.
• Empathetic leadership style that creates a safe environment for high performance.
• Continuous improvement mindset for processes and ways of working.
• Strong collaboration skills across Product, Design, and senior technical leaders.

Required skills

• Deep technical understanding of system design, software architecture, and engineering practices.
• Ability to engage credibly with complex technical challenges and support sound technical decisions.
