Sector Manager – Urbanism & Planning

About the role

Due to an internal promotion, AECOM is seeking an experienced Urbanism & Planning professional to join its Sydney team as Sector Manager. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of architects, landscape architects, urban designers and planners while driving business growth and delivering technical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a high‑performing, inclusive multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration across architecture, landscape, urban design and planning.
• Drive market growth and client engagement in NSW and the ACT, building trusted relationships and leading strategic pursuits.
• Ensure excellence in project delivery, governance, quality, safety and client satisfaction, supporting robust risk management.
• Champion digital innovation, encouraging adoption of digital tools and emerging technologies to enhance outcomes.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning or related discipline with professional registration.
• Extensive experience (ideally 20+ years) in city‑shaping projects and leadership of complex multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven market‑facing capability with strong client relationship management and business development track record.
• Demonstrated technical and governance leadership, including P&L oversight, risk management and delivery in large matrixed organisations.
• Strategic mindset committed to innovation, digital capability and inclusive practice, including experience with First Nations stakeholders.
