Safety Advisor (Construction)

About the role

A well-established national construction contractor with a strong reputation for complex projects in health, aged care, residential, commercial and social infrastructure is recruiting a Safety, Quality and Environmental Supervisor in Northern Sydney. Reporting to the Project Manager and working with the wider SQE team, the role supports project teams and subcontractors in achieving outstanding safety, quality and environmental outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain site-based Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems (SQEMS)
• Identify, assess and mitigate workplace risks and hazards
• Review subcontractor documentation, SWMS and compliance requirements
• Conduct site inspections, audits, toolbox talks, inductions and safety meetings
• Support incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions
• Monitor compliance with legislative and company requirements
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and environmental performance

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Health, Safety and Environment or SQE role in construction or a related high-risk industry
• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or higher qualification
• Experience managing subcontractor compliance and site-based safety processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Required skills

• Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation and construction requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems
