Roads & Highways Designer

About the role

SMEC is seeking a motivated Designer – Roads & Highways to support transport infrastructure projects across Australia. You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, focusing on design quality and technical rigour while developing your expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality road and highway design outputs that meet technical standards, client requirements, and SMEC quality expectations.
• Prepare drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation using 12d and AutoCAD as primary design platforms.
• Provide inputs for design reports, contribute to peer reviews, and ensure compliance with Austroads, client specifications, and HSEQ requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve coordinated, timely, and accurate project delivery.
• Support engineers and senior designers in developing practical design solutions.

• Commitment to continuous learning and technical skill development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 12d design software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
