RF Engineer

About the role

Advanced Design Technology is seeking an enthusiastic RF Engineer to join its Canberra team. The role focuses on designing, building and verifying RF circuits and electromagnetic structures for complex electronic systems used in harsh environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design amplifiers, filters, oscillators and other RF/microwave circuits.
• Model antennas and EM structures using full‑wave 3D tools such as CST or HFSS.
• Lay out RF PCBs, manage fabrication and assembly processes.
• Characterise and verify hardware in a well‑equipped RF lab with network and spectrum analysers.
• Collaborate with digital, FPGA/DSP, mechanical and systems engineers to integrate RF hardware.
• Document designs, test results and verification evidence.

Required profile

• A degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related discipline (final‑year students considered).
• Solid grounding in electromagnetic theory and RF/microwave circuit design.
• Hands‑on experience with RF test equipment.
• Logical problem‑solving approach and curiosity about how things work.
• Clear written and verbal communication, able to work well in a small team.

Required skills

• Design of RF/microwave circuits and amplifiers.
• Use of CST or HFSS for antenna and EM modelling.
• Use of ADS or Microwave Office for circuit simulation.
• RF PCB layout and fabrication knowledge.
• Experience with network analysers, spectrum analysers and related RF lab equipment.
