Retail Buyer – Footwear & Workwear Procurement

About the role

The Retail Buyer will source, select and purchase footwear and workwear for both our retail stores and wholesale customers. Reporting to the Director, you will help drive growth by managing supplier relationships and aligning product ranges with market demand.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director in developing annual purchasing and budget plans.
• Prepare purchasing schedules and work plans based on seasonal demand and budget.
• Monitor sales performance, inventory levels and analyse market trends.
• Attend overseas trade fairs (e.g., Canton Fair) and negotiate supply agreements.
• Research products and suppliers to secure best value, quality and delivery.
• Analyse consumer trends to determine appropriate product quantities and ranges.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and evaluate new ones.
• Develop pricing, marketing, promotional and product display strategies.
• Implement inventory management plans to optimise stock levels and minimise costs.
• Report purchasing activities to the Director.

Required profile

• Qualification equivalent to an AQF Diploma or higher.
• At least one year of relevant experience in retail or wholesale, preferably in footwear.
• Good understanding of the Australian footwear market.
• Fluent in English and Chinese.
• Willingness to travel overseas for trade fairs and supplier meetings.
