Research Governance Officer (Maternity Leave Cover)

About the role

Cabrini Research in Malvern is looking for an experienced Research Governance Officer to cover maternity leave on a 12-month fixed-term full-time contract starting mid-February 2027. Reporting to the Research Governance Manager, the role supports the ethical and governance oversight of research at Cabrini, giving administrative and operational support to researchers and stakeholders so they comply with national research standards, legislative requirements and organisational policy. The position is structured for a hybrid working arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and process research applications needing site-specific governance review and lower-risk ethical review
• Advise on research ethics and governance requirements, keeping up to date with legislation, national guidance and organisational policy
• Handle administrative duties such as billing, mandatory training compliance, post-approval monitoring and reporting
• Maintain records of governance approvals, insurance, training compliance and key performance measures
• Help the organisation comply with the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework

Required profile

• Experience in research governance, ethics administration or healthcare research support
• Tertiary qualification in research, governance, administration or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in a research-related healthcare role
• Knowledge of Australian research ethics and governance requirements, including applicable legislation and guidelines
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication
• High accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to service excellence
