Registered Nurse - Defence Health Centre

About the role

Serco is recruiting a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Robertson Health Centre, located on Robertson Barracks in Holtze, 15 km east of Darwin. The nurse delivers clinical care to Eligible Personnel in line with professional standards, legislation and Defence Policies and Procedures. The health centre provides primary medical, aviation medical, nursing, pharmaceutical, dental, physiotherapy and mental health services, and runs a 22-bed low dependency ward open 24/7; standard hours are 07:30–15:30 Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with AHPRA codes, guidelines and statements for registered nurses.
• Perform triage and assessment of Eligible Personnel presenting to the health facility.
• Coordinate and supervise sick parades, including triage, assessment, outpatient and inpatient treatment.
• Manage patient clinical records in electronic and paper formats according to Defence policies.
• Order and maintain clinical stores and pharmaceutical imprest supplies.
• Take part in governance activities such as clinical reviews, health surveillance and auditing.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• At least 12 months of full-time postgraduate experience in the last 5 years in an acute care, primary health care or military setting (part-time equivalent accepted).
• Ability to deliver high-quality clinical care in line with professional standards, legislation and Defence policies.
• Experience in triage, assessment and management of patient care.
• Understanding of infection control and compliance with Defence and Australian Standards.
• Australian citizenship is required to obtain the baseline security clearance.
