Registered Nurse – Casuarina Prison

About the role

The Department of Justice’s Corrective Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the health team at Casuarina Prison. You will provide direct nursing care to offenders, working within a multidisciplinary environment focused on safety, security and rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to inmates, ensuring patient safety and adherence to clinical standards.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and make sound clinical judgments.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and correctional staff to coordinate care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with departmental policies and governance frameworks.
• Participate in health promotion, disease prevention and rehabilitation programs within the prison.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Demonstrated experience in a nursing role, preferably in a secure or correctional setting.
• Strong work ethic, effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and nursing care delivery.
• Ability to make sound clinical judgments under pressure.
• Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols.
