Quarry Materials Technician

About the role

Join Heidelberg Materials Australia as a Quarry Materials Technician at our NATA‑accredited laboratory in Skygate, Brisbane. You will be responsible for testing aggregates both in‑field and in‑lab, ensuring quality and compliance while enjoying a varied, hands‑on work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform aggregate field sampling at the Nerang quarry and conduct laboratory testing using AS1289, AS1141 and TMRQ methods.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to meet NATA requirements and carry out daily checks.
• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and use LIMS, Excel and Outlook for data entry and reporting.
• Work occasional Saturdays and overtime as needed to meet a 50‑hour work week.

Required profile

• Physically fit with a strong work ethic and excellent health and safety behaviours.
• Self‑motivated with good communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Current Queensland manual driver’s licence and availability for regular overtime.

Required skills

• Experience with aggregate testing methods (AS1289, AS1141, TMRQ).
• Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to perform equipment calibrations and routine maintenance.
