Project Cost Accountant

About the role

The Project Cost Accountant will align finance with project delivery, providing accurate forecasting, cost control and commercial visibility. Reporting to the CFO, you will work closely with project managers and operations to drive commercial efficiency across a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project cost models, forecasts, budgets and accruals.
• Monitor cost performance, analyse variances and clearly articulate monthly cost drivers.
• Prepare detailed commercial and cost reports for project teams and leadership.
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with operational and delivery teams to support contracts and projects.
• Provide guidance on cost control processes, best practice and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• CA/CPA/CIMA qualification preferred (not essential).
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or Accounting.
• 5+ years experience in engineering, construction or manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of management accounting principles and ability to translate financials into actionable insights.
• Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail.
