About the role
The Professor/Associate Professor (Research Fellow) – Prostate Cancer will provide strategic leadership for prostate cancer research within the University of Newcastle’s College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing. The role involves leading a clinically‑informed, translational research programme, securing competitive funding and enhancing the university’s national and international reputation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for prostate cancer research activities.
- Develop and manage multidisciplinary collaborations with clinicians, health services, industry and research partners.
- Attract and manage competitive research funding and oversee major research initiatives.
- Mentor and supervise higher degree research students, research fellows and emerging scholars.
- Build partnerships with government, industry and community stakeholders to ensure research impact.
Required profile
- Doctoral qualification with recognised expertise in prostate cancer or a closely related field.
- Outstanding record of high‑quality, impactful research and evidence of national/international collaborations.
- Demonstrated success in securing competitive research funding and leading major projects.
- Proven experience supervising higher degree candidates and mentoring early‑career researchers.
- Leadership experience in a senior academic or research role, with ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

- Full‑time, 5‑year fixed‑term contract with a salary range of $178,962 – $230,530 plus 17% superannuation.
