Production Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Production Engineer to apply advanced manufacturing and quality engineering techniques on its eye‑care product line in Mulgrave. The role focuses on failure analysis, process capability, instrument calibration, test stability and statistical process control, working closely with cross‑functional teams to drive data‑validated improvements in yield, quality and throughput.

Key responsibilities

• Apply statistical analysis techniques, conduct SPC and MSA/GR&R studies, identify sources of process variation and support data‑based decision‑making.
• Implement, maintain and continuously improve process control systems to ensure stable, repeatable production processes.
• Perform production capacity and throughput analysis to evaluate performance, identify bottlenecks and support planning and risk mitigation.
• Participate in daily production stand‑up meetings, communicating priorities, status, risks and required actions.
• Proactively escalate and communicate issues affecting safety, quality, delivery or capacity to relevant stakeholders.
• Develop a broad understanding of Alcon products, underlying technologies and their applications.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Regulatory and Marketing to meet product objectives and transition products from development to mass production.

• Collaborative approach, working across Final Test, NPI, Systems Engineering, R&D and Quality Engineering.

• Ability to communicate priorities, risks and actions clearly in a fast‑paced environment.
