Principal PostgreSQL Database Administrator (NV2)

About the role

A rapidly growing technology company focused on secure data management and enterprise software engineering is expanding its Australian operations and is recruiting a Principal PostgreSQL Database Administrator (NV2) for Canberra. The role sits in a defence-aligned, high-security environment and is split roughly evenly between database administration and systems engineering, covering PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments and Windows and Linux servers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise mission-critical databases and server infrastructure
• Manage PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments and ensure operational stability across Windows and Linux systems
• Support secure, compliant infrastructure performance
• Collaborate with senior engineering and leadership teams to deliver resilient, high-availability solutions
• Adhere to strict cybersecurity and compliance standards

Required profile

• 5+ years' experience in database and systems administration, ideally in secure or enterprise environments
• NV2 clearance
• Experience in defence, government or critical infrastructure projects is highly regarded

Required skills

• Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL and working knowledge of MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
• Solid experience with Windows Server and Linux (RHEL or similar) administration
• Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
• Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery and system monitoring tools
• Scripting with PowerShell, Bash or Python
• Understanding of network protocols, security best practices and access management
