PR & External Communications Lead

About the role

Canon is seeking an experienced PR & External Communications Lead to shape its earned influence strategy across Australia and New Zealand. You will drive high‑impact product launches, storytelling and thought‑leadership initiatives while working in a hybrid model from the Macquarie Park office.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute Canon’s earned influence and external communications strategy.
• Build and manage a network of media, creators, advocates, customers and industry influencers.
• Lead PR plans for major product launches and portfolio campaigns.
• Identify and develop customer stories, case studies, thought‑leadership and advocacy opportunities.
• Extend the impact of marketing campaigns, sponsorships and experiential activities through earned media.
• Manage external PR agency and partners to achieve measurable outcomes.
• Measure and optimise earned media performance against brand and commercial objectives.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in public relations, earned media or integrated marketing.
• Proven success developing earned media strategies that support brand and commercial goals.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to work across product, sales, marketing and external partners.
• Commercially minded with excellent communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Experience building relationships with media, creators, customers and industry experts.
• Understanding of the evolving media, creator and influence landscape.
• Experience supporting product launches, reviews and earned communications campaigns.
